Many Gifts Received in Good Company!

I can’t think of a better way to spend a drizzly Saturday morning in early spring than to gather with like-minded friends with open hearts and curious minds to learn about and practice mindfulness .… The brilliant meditation teacher Rachel Naomi Remen wrote, “Perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”

Breathing Together, In Silence

By bringing an open awareness, curious attention and non-judgmental intention, we can witness some of the ten thousand joys and ten thousand sorrows that make up our lives. With practice we can bring greater equanimity to this passing parade of thoughts, feelings, memories, plans, worries and joys. This helps us live more fully, and remain balanced in the face of life’s challenges.

Breathe Easy

We will be exploring Breathe Easy in the next CommunitySHINE workshop scheduled on March 29. One young father (we’ll call him Robert) who participated in the SHINE program shared this story of how the practice helped keep him out of jail:
In court one day, I noticed myself getting angry and agitated as I listened to testimony about me that I knew to be untrue.
