Finding ease in the midst of pain

When pain arises, we can create a different relationship with it to lessen its grip. When we notice with kind attention how sensations change, fluctuate, ebb and flow, it feels as if the pain has less power. Through practicing mindful awareness, we can become skilled at dealing with moment to moment sensations of pain.

Know and Let Go: How Awareness Relieves Tension

In order to let go, we must first know that we are holding on. That is where awareness comes in. Mindfulness is all about awareness. It is no more complicated than to start right where you are and realize that with awareness, you CAN let go.

Creating inner calm by letting go of thoughts

Mindfulness helps us be more attentive to how our thoughts can disconnect us from our present moment reality. Only when we are aware of our thoughts can we choose to let them go. As we recognize they are simply transient electrical impulses in our brain and not our actual experience, they lose their power over us.
