We always have a choice in how we respond to what is before us. Coming from openness and curiosity, we have the capacity to take something that we consider annoying and find a new way to experience it.
In this recounting of two workshop experiences, we are reminded that one of the great gifts of mindfulness practices is the opportunity for people to recognize that they themselves can make a significant contribution to their own health and well being in simple ways.
Mindful communication includes careful attention to both speaking and listening in order to be more fully connected in conversation. When we listen with our full presence, both the speaker and the listener are rewarded. Amy shared some mindful listening practices to a senior retirement home, and the lessons learned were happily received.
